DB Actueel Online

Hoe denkt men in het veld hierover?

Request for images for new photographic ID guide (UPDATE)

23 maart 2021  ·  Jack Folkers

In the last 6 years, Nils van Duivendijk (author) and Marc Guyt have been working on a new European photographic identification guide for KNNV Publishing.

Designed by Sam Gobin, it will be a work like no other, where in-depth identification of European birds is combined with the best possible images from the AGAMI archives (www.agami.nl). Images which all show the ID features Nils describes in detail.

The two-volume book will cover all regular European bird species, the identifiable subspecies and all vagrants bar the most extreme ones (e.g. species with less then ca. 5 European records) in minute detail.

A momentous undertaking, where, over the years, many photos for this project were made by the AGAMI photographers on special request from Nils and Marc, but which finally nears it completion.

Due to the nature of the book (e.g. the ID feature should be visible on the images), we still need (a relatively short) selection of high quality images of (sub)species with a wish for a specific gender, age, period in time and/or specific pose – and which should be showing the plumage detail(s) we are after.

If you think you have one or more photographs showing a missing plumage of our wish list, send your images (in high resolution and suitable for publication) to Folkers@knnvuitgeverij.nl, preferably via WeTransfer, before 1 April 2021.

The latest wish list can be found here.

All involved in the project would be most grateful for your help and images. Thanks in advance!
